| Kuşadası (Kush-ada-suh or Bird island) is one of Turkey's principle holiday resorts, and offers an excellent environment for purchasing a property overseas. Situated on the east-coast of the Aegean Sea (part of the Mediterranean Sea), close to the ancient cities of Ephesus, Didyma, Priene and Miletos, and ideal for both retirement and holidaymaking. Many thousands of British, Irish and other Europeans have chosen to buy houses in and around Kusadasi, either as holiday homes, retirement homes or as an investment, taking advantage of the low cost of living and unmatchable house prices that are available. The resident population of British pensioners enjoy a lifestyle that would not be possible if they had to live on a state pension in the UK. Kusadasi harbour is a major port of call for the large cruise liners that visit this part of the world throughout the year, in the summer some of the worlds largest cruise liners are weekly visitors. The beaches in and around Kusadasi include some of the finest beaches in Turkey, the largest one having over 30 kilometres of clean, soft sands. Some of these beaches, with their warm, clear waters, provide a haven of tranquillity, while others offer a great variety of water and beach facilities. Windsurfing, water-skiing, sailing and beach volley are only a few choice for the lovers of active life. After passing the day enjoying the various beach activities (or just sunbathing), the city basks in the light of beautiful sunsets. The setting sun heralding the start of Kusadasi's night life. Bars and clubs, attractive cafes and restaurants, walks along the palm-lined boulevard, or just watching the comings and goings of the yachts and ships in the harbour or marina. Kusadasi's restaurants offer a variety of fresh seafood and Aegean specialties, plus Indian, English and Chinese food. The more energetic may wish to go dancing and entertaining at a lively bar or a disco until dawn. There is always plenty to see and do in Kusadasi. Kusadasi has a typical Mediterranean climate with hot summers and mild winters, providing a long tourism season. The city is bathed in sunshine for 300 days of the year.
