Club President, Huseyin Kahveci

Originally from the Black Sea coastal town of Görele, Huseyin started his working life as a junior hotel manager in Istanbul, working  for Anba Tours, at that time Anba was Turkey's largest travel agency and hotel investment company, with hotels, villas and travel agencies throughout Turkey.

Huseyin was sent to work in Kusadasi as Anba's regional manager for the Aegean Region in 1987, and in 1988 he married his wife Rabia; they now they have 2 children, Zahra18, and Muzaffar 16.

1992 was a troubled time for Turkey, with British and American involvement in the war to rid Kuwait of the Iraki invaders. At a time of very high inflation and uncertainty time, Huseyin purchased 40% of the shares of the Tur Hotel in Kusadasi (current home of the Anglo Turkish Club). Huseyin and family members formed Gorele Tourism in 1996; Gorele bought out the remaining 60% of the shares in 1997.

Huseyin is the President of the Anglo Turkish Club, the Chairman of Gorele Tourism, the President of Kusadasi's Chamber of Commerce's Second Committee - Travel Agencies; he is also Chairman of the Control and Education committee for TURSAP for the districts of Aydin, Denizli, Didim and Kusadasi. TURSAP is the NGO with responsibility for the tourist sector in Turkey.

If you think that he has a lot of responsibility on his shoulders, the you should also be aware that Huseyin also provides an official help desk service for British and Irish residents and visitors on behalf of the Mayor of Kusadasi and the British Consul in Izmir. This help desk service provides free advice and help to any British residents and visitors experiencing difficulties in Kusadasi. This work takes up many hours of Huseyins valuable time each week, yet he happily provides this time completely free of charge to one and all.
